WHY IS CRG WILLING TO SIGN AN INDEMNITY WITH THE FIRE CHIEF?
An indemnity has been requested by emergency service providers for residential developments, including Cove Creek. The same access issues do not apply here as camps will not take place during the winter. We are confident in our emergency planning and are, therefore, willing to provide the requested indemnity.
ARE THE ROADS ADEQUATE FOR EVACUATION IN CASE OF FIRE?
Yes. Mike Elle, the Fire Chief and Tom Acona, the District Fire Marshall, have been consulted on the road and determined that in its current condition it is adequate for safe evacuation, but will require the gravel portion of East Fork Road beyond Triumph to be widened to 20 feet to comply with the International Fire Code. We have since agreed to widen the road east of Triumph at Chief Elle’s request. CRG has submitted this widening requirement as a condition of approval. We have also worked with fire and emergency services experts to develop an evacuation plan that minimizes the amount of traffic leaving camp in such a scenario and increases safety for camp attendees and the surrounding community.
WILL CAMP TRAFFIC CLOG THE ROAD IN CASE OF MANDATORY FIRE EVACUATION?
No. We have a comprehensive fire plan advised by Tom Johnson, retired City of Ketchum and Ketchum Rural Fire District Chief. The plan includes early evacuation with our multi-passenger vans prior to mandatory evacuations to mitigate impacts of evacuation on the surrounding community.
IS THE PROPERTY “FIREWISE”?
Yes. Firewise protocols and the 2015 International Wildland Urban Interface Code will be followed as stated in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan prepared by Mike Pellant, Rangeland Solutions, LLC.
DO YOU HAVE A FIRE EVACUATION PLAN?
In partnership with Tom Johnson and the Ketchum Rural Fire District Marshall, we have prepared a Fire Evacuation Procedure. The procedure was designed with safety of camp attendees and the surrounding community as the foremost concern. The evacuation procedures have been reviewed by Tom Johnson and coordinated with Ketchum Rural Fire District Marshall.
