Survivors Supporting Survivors

sssHere’s the short story about Survivors Supporting Survivors: It is like the coolest thing ever.

And for those who want a little more information, here’s the party line: Survivors Supporting Survivors (SSS) is a teen support group designed for cancer survivors between the ages of 13-18 years old.

The group meets once a month in the Boise, Idaho, area to  provide education, support, resources and fun. Check out our events calendar to find the next scheduled event. Just like all Camp Rainbow Gold services and programs, it is free.

Designed to offer an opportunity for teens to talk about the struggles of a cancer diagnosis, a typical agenda may included introductions, a 15-minute “Happy/Crappy” time to vent or celebrate, a mentor story and a guided discussion or activity.

It’s important to be yourself and to stay flexible and open to adjust the evening based on what the others bring to the group.

Sometimes the group goes out into the community to engage in fun activities such as cooking classes, self defense classes, art therapy, music therapy, bowling tournaments and glass blowing. Bring your ideas, and get ready to make life-long friends who know exactly where you’re coming from.
