Reflecting On Kindness

In the busyness of everyday life, it can be easy to just see the negative or the hard parts. The 2022 Scentsy Rock-a-Thon reminded me of the incredible community I am honored to be part of.

For 12 hours, 70 people lined Eagle Road in Meridian to rock in rocking chairs and raise support for Camp Rainbow Gold and the medical camp we are building — Hidden Paradise. The Idaho-based Scentsy company pledged $250 for each hour that a rocking chair was moving. Not only that, but people bought shirts, food trucks donated a portion of sales, businesses sponsored chairs, and so many others also came together to support Camp Rainbow Gold.

Showing Up

Individuals from all walks of life: young children, teens, college students, working professionals, families, community groups, and more all showed up to celebrate and rock for Idaho’s kids and families who have experienced a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Many volunteers worked long hours to make sure the event was a success and a blast to be at.

Giving Hand and Heart

Stories were shared, smiles were exchanged, donations were made but, what really stood out to me was how kind everyone was. Everyone could have chosen to fill their day with activities other than sitting in a rocking chair at the Rock-a-Thon. However, every person chose to make a difference and help others.

Seeing the infectious support, kind words, and excitement for our mission brought me so much joy. Witnessing others give hand and heart reminded me of how caring and compassionate our world can be.

SHINE On!
