Kicking off the 2021 Camp Season – In Person!

Jul 2, 2021 | Camps

After 20 months of connecting with campers primarily from behind screens and through the mail service, Camp Rainbow Gold kicked off the 2021 season in style – in person! And with lots of great food and fun activities.

On June 12, seven families joined together at the Idaho Youth Ranch property Hands of Promise. We enjoyed a day of fishing, archery, and barbecue. And you just know we managed to sneak in a little campfire and Wishcone ceremony to cap off the day and truly make it feel like camp.

An Intro to CRG

Most of the families participating in the event were brand new to Camp Rainbow Gold. They appreciated the chance to meet staff members and volunteers to learn more about all of Camp Rainbow Gold’s programs. We shared how to get involved in everything from the Teen Support Group, Fall Family Camp, and of course, this year’s summer camps now that things are opening back up.

And we loved finally putting faces to the names and email addresses of these families and getting to know them better in turn. From learning who is an ace shot on the archery range to which camper can swap fishing tales with the best, it was truly energizing to be back at camp – even if it was just for a day.

And More to Come

Lucky for us, this was only the start of the 2021 camp season. Starting next week, Camp Rainbow Gold will run its full slate of summer camp programming and we cannot wait to welcome back several of the campers who joined us at the Family Day Camp as well as all of the new and returning campers we have been waiting to see since our last camp in October of 2019.

After all, it is these connections that have felt absent over the last two years. We got a taste of it last month and assembling this community again in July will help deliver the hope, love, and fun we have all been craving!
