Volunteer Opportunities
Camp Rainbow Gold volunteers make it possible for children who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their families, to get a break. Children diagnosed with cancer can enjoy the opportunity to just be a kid again. Brothers and sisters get to be the focus for a time and find a community of support. Parents can leave the realities of life behind for a moment and reconnect and recharge with their families.
Whether you head to camp for a day or for a week, or if you help at events, in the office, or on a committee all year, when you give your time to Camp Rainbow Gold, you make a difference in Idaho families’ lives.
Camp Volunteer Roles

Camp Counselor
You will work with co-counselors to provide leadership and guidance to 6-10 campers over the course of a week. You’ll dive in and participate with the group as they learn to mountain bike, make crafts at the Art Shack, try their hands at archery, and participate in other camp activities. Counselors are integral to the camp experience, ensuring both a great camp experience for each child, as well as the safety
of the campers.
Activity Support
You will lead specific activities at camp, such as fishing, bike riding, yoga instruction, or art lessons. You may also be a floater, help with maintenance, or document camp through photography and videography. For many of these roles, you can come to camp only the day or days of your activity. If you have a specific talent, hobby, or interest that could be shared with our campers, please let us know in your interest form!
Med Shack Volunteer
Licensed registered nurses provide campers with medical care, including dispensing medication and rendering first aid. The Med Shack team also includes a Licensed Social Worker during each camp session. Med Shack volunteers also jump in on the fun, participating in all camp activities—and providing the magic camp.

For our families and campers, Camp Rainbow Gold is more than a week; it’s a place that helps heal souls. Here are a few ways you can support camp all year.
Join the Events teams
Enjoy fun runs, golf tournaments, and other community events, all while representing Camp Rainbow Gold! You’ll set up our booth and ask questions about Camp Rainbow Gold. These opportunities come up year-round in Treasure Valley. If you enjoy talking to people and sharing Camp Rainbow Gold’s story, joining the Events Team is a great way to use your skills and support the organization.
Hidden Paradise Work Days
Head to Fairfield, ID for a day and help get Hidden Paradise—Camp Rainbow Gold’s home—ready for camp (in the spring) or close it up for the season (in October). Days include things like putting up or taking down structures, cleaning cabins, setting up and putting away boats and archery, clearing bike trails, and setting up games. Lunch is provided and camaraderie is assured! If you have a bigger group who would like to volunteer together, this is a great option.
Share Your Heart Ball
Help make sure our biggest fundraiser of the year runs smoothly! Volunteers help set up, organize, oversee silent auctions, run games, check coats, and generally step in wherever is needed. We have two shifts, from morning to afternoon and afternoon until late night. Note that the event takes place every spring in Sun Valley and that Camp does not provide lodging for the event.
Office Projects
By volunteering in the office, you become an essential part of our mission. Your time and skills can help keep daily operations running smoothly—from organizing materials to data entry to assisting with communications and events. Join the Finance Committee
Make an impact by helping guide the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
