Youth Campers From Camp Rainbow Gold To Receive Motorcycle Escort

Summer in the Wood River Valley often sees travelers from across the country and world—as well as residents—take to the outdoors for a period of rest and relaxation. This Sunday, July 23, a special group of travelers will arrive in the valley for that purpose, accompanied by a retinue of bikers.

Camp Rainbow Gold’s 16th annual Motorcycle Escort will roll through the valley starting at 11 a.m. to deliver a group of youth campers ages 6-12 to Cathedral Pines to spend a week away from hospitals, doctors, and the daily reminders of their struggles with cancer.

“At camp, they will make friends, laugh around campfires, and for one week enjoy a time when their battle with cancer takes a back seat to the fun and support of Camp Rainbow Gold and the camp family,” Camp Rainbow Gold wrote in a news release.

The journey begins in Boise, where campers will register at 9 a.m. hosted by Happy Family, located at 3880 West Americana Terrace. At 11 a.m., the Boise Valley Riders Motorcycle Club will escort the bus of campers to Bellevue Memorial Park, where they will join up with hundreds of motorcyclists from southern Idaho. Together, they will escort the bus 14 miles north of Ketchum to Cathedral Pines, where the campers begin their adventure.
