Dear Camp,

Camp Rainbow Gold is one of the most special places on this planet, and it’s hard to deny it. It is this environment of warmth and security that is nearly impossible to find anywhere else. It creates this culture of happiness and celebration for everyone who steps foot in it. I know that this space is what I truly enjoy from Camp, but this isn’t just due to the events. It’s not created by the place and the scenery (even though it helps quite a bit), it’s created by the people that put in the time to make it a safe space.

I know that this past year, Camp Rainbow Gold Teen Camp 2021 was probably one of the biggest years of my life. I brought along some alternative choices of clothing, which contrast with who I used to be, and instead of being met with adversity, I was welcomed and comforted. No matter where you go, it’s impossible to find such a heartwarming environment as I did there, and that specific year gave me the courage that I needed to be the person I want to be.

Every year I just enjoy going for the people. As much as it’s fun to see the mountains, bike through the trails, and stare up at the stars, none of it would feel the same if I didn’t have others there to enjoy it with me. It wouldn’t be the same experience without the volunteers and fellow campers there to sit around a campfire with.

So, thank you to everyone who helps make Camp possible.
