Hidden Paradise Has a $1 Million Match!

Camp Rainbow Gold received a transformative $1 million matching gift from the Tom and Mary Tomlinson Foundation, represented by David Turnbull of Brighton Corporation. This gift is targeted to complete Hidden Paradise’s new Main Lodge. Hidden Paradise is Camp Rainbow Gold’s permanent home and Idaho’s only medically designed, accessible, adaptive camp.

The Main Lodge is the final major structure needed to ensure that Idaho children facing cancer and other medical, physical, and emotional challenges—and the nonprofits that serve them—have a safe, central gathering place.

While Hidden Paradise has expanded rapidly, meals are still prepared in a small, antiquated kitchen, limiting camp growth and creating safety concerns.

“[Without this lodge] we cannot grow our camps, and we still lack a building large enough to safely shelter everyone in an emergency,” said Elizabeth Lizberg, CEO of Camp Rainbow Gold and Hidden Paradise Medical Camp. “This extraordinary $1 million match finally gives us a path to change that—forever.”

Once the match is met, construction of the 10,000-square-foot, fully accessible main lodge will move forward immediately. This will:

  • Allow more children and families to attend camp
  • Provide a safe, central emergency shelter for all campers and staff
  • Feature a commercial grade kitchen that will allow staff to efficiently prepare meals to safely meet all needs including specialized diets.
  • Enable Hidden Paradise to welcome more nonprofit partners from across Idaho

Over the past several years, Hidden Paradise has been transformed from a shuttered golf resort into a thriving medical camp through volunteer labor, community support, and partnerships with local trades. The campus now includes ADA cabins, a medical center, accessible recreation areas, and outdoor programming spaces. Without the Main Lodge, however, the camp cannot meet the growing demand for medically supported programs.

Hidden Paradise also serves as a home base for numerous Idaho nonprofits, including:

  • Camp Hope – Children with epilepsy
  • Camp River Run – Children with complex medical conditions
  • AdaptAble – Children with limb differences or amputations
  • AAC – Children who use communication devices
  • NEXT – Families of children with disabilities
  • Sunrise Retreats – Recent widows

“We’re asking Idaho to join us,” said David Turnbull, Founder and Chairman of Brighton Corporation. “If we step up together and meet this match, we get to say yes to more kids, more families, more healing, and more hope.”
