Celebrating our First Camp Season

Aug 11, 2021 | Healing Idaho

We did it! We held our very first camps at Hidden Paradise, and to be honest, we feel like we pulled off a miracle. To remodel 14 buildings, put in bicycle trails, thousands of feet of fencing around ponds, and to replace a swimming pool and cabana with an outdoor eating area could never have happened without the tremendous support of so many.

Our camps were smaller this year and a bit different with COVID still looming, but large amounts of fun, hope and love were lavished on these kids. You should have seen the Campers’ faces when they walked into newly remodeled cabins with bathrooms and new bunk beds.

And there’s nothing better than watching them taking part in archery, horseback riding (thanks to Swiftsure Ranch), bike riding, a ropes course, and paddle boating. Of course, you can’t forget the singing of silly songs, cabin raiding, water fights and dances that make Camp Rainbow Gold so magical.

What’s Next

We are moving forward with plans to build a prototype of the new children’s cabins starting in September. Blackrock Homes is building and donating all the cabins in two Cabin Villages and two shower houses.

Moving into Phase 2 of the Capital Campaign we are focusing on infrastructure, activity pavilions to provide shade and water around the camp and securing the support to build a lodge and dining facility that can house all our campers (and other lease groups) once we are back to our normal programming.

We would love to show you around Hidden Paradise so you can see for yourself all that we have accomplished and the vision for the future. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to get involved as we build Idaho’s children with cancer A New Place Like Home.
